Although tourism has faced many challenges in recent years, now there is no trace of this, especially when it comes to interest in the islands. Greece, Hawaii or even the Seychelles are all popular destinations for tourists, where those who want to relax can recharge their batteries in luxurious conditions. Let’s see which are the best hotels this year.
Corfu, Greece
This is the island, which is also a particularly popular destination among Hungarian travelers, and is easily accessible by direct flight from Budapest. The Ikos Odisia, a five-star resort, is being built on a peninsula in the northern part of the island, where 395 rooms await guests after the opening on May 19. In addition to the sea view, the hotel also has a total of 10 indoor and outdoor pools with wellness services. The all-inclusive double rooms start from around HUF 130,000 per person per night.

Hawaii
Jumping across the globe on the other side of the world, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay opened on February 15th. A $300 million renovation of the former St. Regis Princeville has transformed a hotel on the cliffs overlooking Hanalei Bay, a beach popular with surfers, on the north shore of the island of Kauai. The 252-room and 51-suite complex has an emphasis on natural elements, from native flora to hand-crafted lamps and black basalt floors. In addition to surfing lessons, the hotel also has a 1,600 square meter wellness spa, where the price of a room starts at about HUF 540,000 per night.

The location of the next luxury hotel is also Hawaii. Kona Village Resort will reopen on July 1 after 11 years of closure. 150 bungalows with thatched roofs are being built on the 32-hectare site, each reminiscent of a traditional Hawaiian home. They ask for nearly HUF 900,000 per night for houses powered by renewable energy.

Maldives
Avani + Fares Maldives Resort is a family-friendly luxury hotel located a half-hour seaplane ride from Velana International Airport. On the 12-hectare private island, you can enjoy the sunset from the villas built on the water or discover the underwater world while diving. After the opening on April 1, a room starts at HUF 170,000 per night, while a villa built on the water costs HUF 270,000.

Seychelles Islands
The newest resort in the Seychelles is the $100 million Waldorf Astoria. The hotel can be reached by a 20-minute plane ride from the main island of Mahé, where 50 beach villas, surrounded by palm forests, lagoons and coral reefs, await those interested after the handover at the end of the year. In the spirit of sustainability, the resort has its own solar farm. Expected prices have not yet been announced.

Kangaroo Island, Australia
After the 2019 bushfires destroyed the Southern Ocean Lodge (SOL) hotel on Kangaroo Island, the 25-room hotel will reopen its doors in the second half of this year with a $50 million renovation. SOL 2.0 also includes a 600 square meter, 4-room suite with ocean views from its terrace and pool. The hotel also has a spa, and guided tours will also be available. No information about prices has been given here either.

New Zealand
At the end of the list was the New Zealand FlockHill hotel, which is essentially a villa building located among the country’s most beautiful mountains. The location can be reached from Christchurch Airport in 80 minutes on the highway, and in 2.5 hours on side roads that pass through landscapes of unparalleled beauty. In the panoramic building, the guests also have their own chef. The already opened villa building costs HUF 3.4 million per night.
