Not only exponential increases in infections, schools halved both for staff and for students, and ASL in tilt. In Italy there is also a real tampon emergency . It is almost impossible to book a molecular test quickly in large cities: the wait also reaches 10 days and in any case in the province . This is the case, for example, of Milan and Turin, but not only.

Equally complicated to be able to do a quick. Pharmacies continue to be stormed, both by unvaccinated people who continue their undeterred dabbing every 2 days to go to work, and by the many Italians with symptoms or who have had contact with positives who need to take the test.

The pharmacies that carry out rapid swabs in fact make up for the shortcomings and delays of the ASL, in particular with the new quarantine rules that came into force at Christmas. Now that the rapid swab is enough to “break free” from quarantine or put an end to the self-monitoring regime, rapid swabs become more and more essential.

Free swabs: that’s who

However, few know that the last decree of 5 January approved by the Draghi decree provides for free tampons in some specific cases (here everything that the new decree provides, including vaccination obligation, super green pass and school).

The new legislation introduces, until 28 February , and only for middle and high school students who are self-supervised , the possibility of carrying out rapid tests free of charge, both in pharmacies and in authorized health facilities, following the medical prescription of the general practitioner or pediatrician of free choice.

This is excellent news for families, who at least no longer have to bear the costs of tampons for their children. For the pupils of primary school , however, the tests continue to be carried out, free of charge, at the facilities of the National Health Service .

One Region went ahead and decided to extend government legislation. To strengthen the system of execution of the swabs that free the subjects recovered from Covid and their close contacts, the Piedmont Region led by Alberto Cirio from Monday 17 January will make free of charge all the tampons necessary for the exit from isolation and quarantine, including those rapid antigenic agents carried out in pharmacies and in all private facilities in Piedmont. For everyone, regardless of age.

When to swab: all cases

But let’s see in detail when you need to make a tampon , even quick in the pharmacy:

for those who are positive :

asymptomatic: after 10 quarantine days symptomatic: after 10 days of quarantine from the appearance of the first symptoms and at least 3 days after the disappearance of symptoms for those who have already received the third booster dose or completed the vaccination cycle with 2 doses of less than 120 days: after 7 days of quarantine if you have always remained asymptomatic, or if you have been asymptomatic for at least 3 days. for those who are a close contact of a person who tested positive :

vaccinated with third dose, or 2 doses less than 4 months or recovered less than 4 months: after 5 days self-monitoring, in the event of the appearance of symptoms and, if still symptomatic, on the 5th day following the date of the last close contact with confirmed positive subjects vaccinated with 2 doses for more than 4 months and which still has a valid green pass, if asymptomatic: after 5 days of quarantine not vaccinated or who has not completed the primary vaccination course (e.g. who has received only one dose of the two vaccines expected) or who has completed the primary vaccination course less than 14 days: after 10 days of quarantine since the last contact with the positive person.
