Volunteers digging through mud and rubble in Libya’s eastern city of Derna continued to find bodies on Friday, nearly a week after a powerful storm unleashed catastrophic floods that devastated the coastal city.
Rescue teams searched through excavated buildings in what was Libya’s fourth most populous city before the unusual Mediterranean storm triggered the floods.
The death toll has exceeded 11,000 and more than 10,000 are missing. Volunteers arrived from all over Libya.
