A video published by a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on March 11, 2023 shows a fierce clash between the Ukrainian army and the Russian Wagner mercenaries in the bitter fighting city of Bahmut in eastern Ukraine.
It can be seen on the videos made by the Ukrainian unit: the fighting is going on from house to house in the settlement in eastern Ukraine.
The battle in Bakhmut bought time to plan a future counterattack against Russian forces, said Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander of the Ukrainian ground forces. According to him, the conflict, which is the longest battle for a single city during the war in Ukraine, was needed to replenish ammunition stocks and develop a strategy for the next phase of the war.
The front line is now marked by the Bahmutka River in the center of Bahmut. Ukrainian forces hold the western part of the city and have destroyed key bridges across the river, Reuters reported.
