In 2006, after a fire accident in the village of “Lapinės”, the family turned to the public for help, because the house and household were destroyed in the fire. At that time, through ziedot.lv, fellow citizens donated almost 7,000 lats to the family for the renovation of the house. The family is now separating, and the donation itself has become an uncomfortable issue: the husband, as the owner of the land, wants the house to remain his, but the wife thinks otherwise, reports “4. studio”.

The marriage is said to have already been dissolved, but there is a lawsuit about the house: the dispute is about the land purchased during the marriage and the house built with donations.
“Mr. Kėpiņas wants to throw us out without showing us another place to live and without compensation,” says the divorced wife Sarmīte.
It should be noted that the building has not been put into operation, and according to the decision of the construction board of the Salacgrivas region, it is forbidden to live in it. Sarmīte and her two children live in the building and have taken care of the farm.
The sworn lawyer Kalvis Krūmiņš explains the situation.
