Kreile demanded that the broadcast team speak to him in Russian; without expecting it, she ended the communication and went back into the apartment.
The program appealed to the State Police. The law enforcement officers inspected the apartment, removed the flags from the windows and took Kreili to the temporary detention cell.
Didzis Matīss, head of the Riga Zemgale station of the State Police, says: “The police reacted immediately. We opened a criminal case according to Article 74.1 of the Criminal Law – for glorification of war crimes. We have seized flags, evidence, also things in the apartment that could prove that glorification is taking place. An investigation is currently underway. she is being interrogated.”
The State Police will ask the court to apply a security measure – detention.
35 administrative violation proceedings have been initiated against the woman at the Riga Zemgale station of the State Police – half for using symbols glorifying military aggression and war crimes in a public place, and half for violations of Covid-19 restrictions.
The police remind that activities and actions glorifying the aggressor country Russia or its army are not allowed and supported in Latvia.
