TikTok said in a statement that it was “disappointed” by the announcement, which was made by the Commerce Department on Friday morning at Trump’s “as direction.”

  • #Another Chinese app, WeChat, will be effectively crippled on Sunday, with a ban on companies offering “internet hosting, content delivery networks, internet transit or peering services” to WeChat, according to the New York Times.
  • #Those same heavy restrictions will also be applied to TikTok on November 12, unless the app is acquired by an American software company and Trump’s concerns about national security implications are alleviated.
  • #TikTok said in its statement that the company had already “committed to unprecedented levels of additional transparency and accountability well beyond what other apps are willing to do.”

#It said TikTok would “continue to challenge the unjust executive order, which was enacted without due process and threatens to deprive the American people and small businesses across the US of a significant platform for both a voice and livelihoods.”
