In addition, on March 12, Ventspils hospital welcomed the 100th baby of this year – girl Melania, who was born 50 centimeters long and weighed 3256 grams. She is the fifth child in the family. Melanija and her mother were greeted by the chairman of the hospital’s board, Juris Lācis, presenting a box of socks made by the needlewomen of the pensioners’ association and a love cloth made in Latvia for sweeter dreams, as well as a baby bib.
Like other families expecting their third and every subsequent child in Ventspils, Melanie and her mother spend the postpartum period in a high comfort ward free of charge.
TVNET already reported that on March 8, the first twins of this year were born in the Ventspils Maternity Department – brothers Rinald and Niklāvs from Ances, Ventspils region. They are their parents’ first children in the family.
As announced, a new tradition has been introduced this year, welcoming every baby born in the Ventspils Hospital’s Maternity Department, the mother is presented with a box of the baby’s first favorites “Be warmly welcomed in Ventspils!”. A card with the baby’s name, birth data, weight, height and midwife’s name is placed in the box, as well as booties made by the diligent needlewomen of the “Ventspils liedags” pensioners association, thus symbolically passing the warmth of the heart from generation to generation.
The hospital invites new parents not only from Ventspils and the region, but also from Kurzeme and all of Latvia to choose Ventspils hospital as the place to give birth to their baby.
