A total of 4,279 green license plates were issued in the first three months of 2023 in Hungary, which was 13.5 percent more than in the same period of 2022. This means that an average of 1,426 vehicles received green license plates per month this year, compared to 1,256 last year. almost 36,000 purely electric passenger cars were on the roads of Hungary, more than 12,000 more than at the end of March 2022.
In addition, in 2023, 1,564 plug-in hybrid passenger cars have been given domestic license plates so far, last year this number was only 1,342 in the first quarter. At the end of March, the number of plug-in hybrids was almost 31,000. Right, we are talking about the 5N and 5P vehicle categories, for the latter the car must be able to travel at least 25 kilometers in purely electric mode, and for the 5N environmental protection class at least 50 kilometers – regardless of this, both have the green license plate.
