This brick is more than just a power bank

Anker 737 is a nice brick, needless to say. 15.6 x 5.5 x 5 cm, weighing well 630 grams: it practically weighs as much as half a MacBook Air, but the convenience of carrying around a brick like this is that you can recharge that same MacBook Air completely, and even quickly, with Anker 737.

I guess that for Anker there is no need to make too many presentations: a company founded in 2011 by a former Google engineer, it is now a global point of reference when it comes to gadgets and accessories. In recent years it has been very successful with its other brands, including Soundcore for audio (don’t miss the review of the excellent Space Q45 headphones), but the focus of the main company remains charging devices.

Anker 737 (also called PowerCore 24K) is a device that we could consider halfway between a normal power bank and a charging station (i.e. those much larger and bulkier devices, like this one): it is compact enough to be carried in a backpack, but will guarantee you a number of recharges and a recharge speed much faster than a normal external battery.

Going to look at it more closely, Anker 737 has a 24,000mAh battery, with which it can recharge a MacBook Air M1 one and a half times and any modern smartphone more than 4 times. But beyond the large capacity, the peculiarity lies in the charging speed (up to 140W)and inattention to detail.

They are on board 3 doors in total, including 2 USB-C ports (one also works as an input, to recharge the power bank) and 1 USB-A. The three ports can be used simultaneously, and the energy supplied automatically adapts to the conditions: USB-A has a maximum output up to 18Wwhile the two USB-C have maximum output at 140W.

Anker 737 uses proprietary technologies of the company, like GaNprime And PowerIQ 4.0to control charging, but also supports the latest industry standards, such as Power Delivery 3.1, PPS and Quick Charge 4+. In addition, the mode can also be activated with a double click on the side switch Trickle chargingdesigned to recharge devices that require low energy consumption.

A special feature of this device is the color displayabout which we can read a lot of useful information: not only residual autonomy, but also power supplied by each single port in real time (very interesting to watch it decrease as you approach 100%), temperaturebattery health and more.

Earlier I was talking about attention to detail: I am referring both to very small precautions which frankly we could have done without, such as theaccelerometer which orients the display according to how the power bank is positioned, but also to details that help safeguard the device itself, such as ActiveShield 2.0an Anker proprietary technology that constantly monitors the temperature and adjusts the energy delivery to prevent the power bank from overheating.

In the sales package, in addition to the power bank and a well-made USB-C cable, we also find a small canvas bag for transport.

Overall, Anker 737 is a device that can hardly disappoint: it does everything a latest generation power bank has to do, it has a high capacity, a good number of ports and adopts all possible precautions for safe recharging.

The price isn’t cheap, but it’s in line with other similar devices: we’re talking about a list price of €149, but these days you can take it home at a slightly reduced price. 127€ (applying the special -15% coupon on Amazon).
