Around 3.30 pm Italian time (11.30 pm local time) there was a 7.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan. The earthquake was recorded about 57 kilometers off the coast of the city of Namie, which is located in the province of Fukushima, and at a depth of about 60 kilometers.

In the Kanto region, which includes Tokyo, power outages have been reported in more than 2 million homes, while rail connections have been temporarily suspended in the capital’s metropolitan area. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said self-defense forces – the name by which the Japanese military is known – have been mobilized to inspect the damage found in the worst-hit area of the country, about which there is little news for now.
In the meantime, the Japanese meteorological agency has issued a tsunami warning for the prefectures of Fukushima and Miyagi (located north of that of Fukushima), anticipating that waves more than a meter high could arrive on the coasts.
