A total of hundreds of soldiers have lost their lives in the fighting in the last 24 hours, the Russian and Ukrainian military leaders announced on Saturday. A kind of war of numbers begins to develop between the warring parties as to who lost more people.

The Ukrainian side reported that 221 pro-Moscow soldiers were killed in the last 24 hours and more than 300 were captured. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the death of 210 Ukrainian soldiers.

The last few days have been about a Russian advance on the most important front of the war in Bahmut, however, according to the Ukrainian general quoted by the Guardian, they are currently preparing the counterattack. According to a report from the British Secret Service on Saturday, the eastern part of the key city is already under Russian control, and the Bahmut River, which runs through the middle of the city, is currently the front line. At the same time, they emphasized that there is considerable open ground between the two armies, which will make it a serious challenge for the Russians to advance further.
