The most popular travel destinations for Germans

In summer 2021 again beckons great freedom. For many Germans that means one thing above all: Finally going on vacation again . A few months ago it looked very different. At the travel barometer of the market research company YouGov in November 2020 the German citizens still noticed with particular reluctance. 34 percent stated at the time that they would not plan any trips in the next twelve months. That was the highest value among the analyzed countries in Europe.

Falling infection numbers at the beginning of summer and the increasing vaccination rate have rekindled the desire to travel in this country. Holiday in their own country is the obvious option for most people in view of the still uncertain situation. In September 2020, according to YouGov, Germany led the list of the most popular vacation destinations for German citizens 30 percent. In the current survey from May 2021 Almost every second German has stated that they are planning a vacation in Germany, it said when the number was published in July 2021.

In the survey in September, Austria had 07 takes second place. Turkey, on the other hand, rose from the top 12 away.
