Approximately 700 firefighters are working to contain the flames. Their work is made difficult by the fact that strong winds of 50 kilometers per hour are blowing in the vicinity of the fire.

At midday on Sunday, Justice and Interior Minister Gabriela Bravo reported that firefighters are currently devoting almost all their resources to preventing the flames from spreading to the CV-195 highway between Montán and Montanejon and the CV-120 in the Sierra de Espada near national park.

Last year, 785,000 hectares of forest burned in Europe, which is more than double the long-term average.

The winter was quite dry in a large part of the continent, so there is a risk that the destruction will be on a similar scale this year.
