The Estonian Security Police has detained the pro-Kremlin politician Aivo Peterson and two other persons, the newspaper “Postimees” reports on Friday.
They have been detained in connection with the suspicion of forming such connections directed against the Estonian state.
The detainees are two Estonian citizens, one of whom is Peterson, and a Russian citizen with a permanent residence permit in Estonia, “Postimees” writes.
Since the preliminary investigation activities are being carried out regarding the detainees, the Security Police stated that they cannot disclose further details for the time being.
Peterson is the leader of the pro-Kremlin movement “Koos” (“Together”). In last week’s parliamentary elections, he ran on the list of the United Left Party, but this list did not enter the parliament. At the beginning of the week, he returned from Russia, and from there he also went to the occupied territories of Ukraine.
