The Czech car industry took off

They added that the production results thus approached the level of the first quarter of 2019, the last year before the coronavirus epidemic.

24,950 passenger cars were imported, 10.2 percent more than in the same period of 2022, the number of cars delivered to foreign markets increased by 33.4 percent to 328,820. The number of electric and hybrid cars exceeded 22,250.

The largest car manufacturer in the Czech Republic, Skoda Auto, increased the number of cars produced in the first three months by 42.4 percent to 231,652.

South Korea’s Hyundai produced 88,300 cars, 18.8 percent more than a year ago. Of these, 19,062 cars had an electric drive.

The Japanese Toyota increased the number of cars produced in the Czech Republic by 5.2 percent to 33,818 after the shutdown in February.

The results indicate that the automotive industry in the Czech Republic is gradually returning to normal – Martin Jahn, president of the automotive association, commented on the results.
