But the Swede was ultimately defeated by Tessa Worley.

He was leading the Giant Slalom Cup before the first heat on Sunday. But Sara Hector did not live up to expectations and finished in first place with a whole two seconds and ten hundredths behind Mikaela Shiffrin.

So, something really extra was needed for Hector – 29 points behind Shiffrin and seven points behind Tessa Worley – to take home the giant slalom cup title.

Hector tried to get a good start in the second heat today and once he reached the finish line he was in second place after a total time of two minutes, 16 seconds and 17 hundredths.

But the Swede’s run wasn’t good enough to save the giant slalom race.

Tessa Worley made no mistakes when she took the lead after her second heat. The Frenchwoman finished with a second and four hundredths faster than Hector.

The strong run lasted all the way and Worley was finally able to claim the title of cup champion in the giant slalom, after American Shiffrin failed to defend his lead from the first heat.

Despite a failed finish, Hector had a good season and ultimately finished second in the cup.

During the day, however, a double Italian on the podium, when Federica Brigone finished first and Marta Bassino second.
