Russia has started joint naval exercises with Iran and China in the Arabian Sea, Moscow announced on Wednesday.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the “Sea Belt 2023” exercise has begun near the Iranian port city of Chehbehar.
The naval maneuver part of the exercise is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Russia will participate in the maneuvers with the frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” and a medium-sized tanker, the ministry revealed.
The warships will perform joint maneuvers and conduct artillery fire during the day and night.
Russia, increasingly isolated since its repeated invasion of Ukraine, is trying to strengthen relations with China and Iran.
