Putin: We will defend Crimea and Sevastopol

Putin expressed his conviction that the complete restoration of the railway part of the Crimean Bridge damaged by the terrorist attack will be completed on time. Promising comprehensive economic development and social support, the president welcomed the Crimeans and all Russians on the occasion of Saturday’s anniversary of Crimea’s “reunification” with Russia, and called the decision made in the referendum, which was not recognized by the vast majority of UN member states, “final” and “historic”.

At the same meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khushnullin said that about 384 kilometers of roads were renovated in Russia’s “new regions” last year, and he promised that the highway around the Sea of ​​Azov would be built next year.

On Friday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented the pilots of the two Su-27 fighter jets that intercepted an American drone in the airspace over the Black Sea. According to the Moscow military ministry, the action of the two fighter pilots prevented “violation of the borders of the temporary airspace use area established for the purpose of a special operation”.

According to the ministry, the American MQ-9 Reaper drone, which fell into the sea following the incident, was approaching the Russian border with its beacon turned off. The Kommersant economic newspaper quoted the Crimean news portal ForPost, which wrote that the wreckage of the drone was found in the Black Sea near Sevastopol, at a depth of 900 meters.
