Ten-man Paris Saint-Germain were in debt for a last-gasp penalty from Kylian Mbappe as they battled for a 2-1 win over Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

Mbappe unnecessarily scored three penalties in the World Cup final but this secured all three points for PSG in a tight contest that saw Neymar sent off.

The first hour of play was all about Marquinhos. The Brazilian connected with a Neymar free kick to give PSG an early lead, and it looked like they were going to dominate from there.

However, he leveled things himself shortly after the break when he deflected Adrien Thomasson’s cross into his own goal.

That was just the beginning of the drama, though. He is never boring with Neymar around, and picked up two yellow cards within two minutes of the second half, the second of which was for a clean dive in the Strasbourg box.

He was actually lucky not to receive a straight red card for the first after he caught Adrien Thomasson in the face with a swinging arm.

From there it looked like anyone’s game, with Strasbourg sensing an opportunity to cause a major shock. Mbappehowever, he had other ideas.

He ignited style in added time and was fouled by a panicked challenge from Strasbourg in the box. The VAR took one look but agreed with the referee, offering the winner of the World Cup Golden Boot a chance to win it with the last kick of the match.

He was in no mood to pass up that opportunity and fired the penalty himself.
