Ground forces will receive new helicopters. On Friday, at the Świdnik plant, Deputy Prime Minister Mariusz Błaszczak signed an agreement under which our army will be equipped with AW149 machines produced at the Świdnik plant, which is part of the Leonardo group.

Purchase of helicopters in response to the war in Ukraine

Błaszczak stressed that the contract is “a response to the current international situation” and war beyond our eastern border. He added that the Polish authorities have decided to step up the process of equipping the Polish army with modern weapons.

The AW149 helicopters will go to the Polish army next year

The head of the national defense ministry added that the first machines will be used by the ground forces as early as next year.

The contract amounts to PLN 8 billion and 250 million and involves 32 AW149 helicopters, or two helicopter squadrons. As part of the contract, we also ordered a logistics package and a training package that includes simulators

The anti-tank missiles for the helicopter will be supplemented by the Świdnica factory. The AW149 helicopter is a multipurpose machine suitable for day and night tasks.
