Nottingham Forest have contacted Keylor Navas about the January transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, 90 minutes can confirm.
Forest’s first choice goalkeeper, Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson, has been sidelined with a thigh problem and so the Premier League newcomers are exploring their options as they continue their battle to avoid relegation .
Sources confirmed a 90 minutes that those responsible for forest have made contact with Navas about an ambitious move to the Premier League this month.
Navas rotated with Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG last season, but the Costa Rican star has since been firmly benched by Christophe Galtier, who has only used Navas twice this season in the Coupe de France.
With the 36-year-old no longer playing regular minutes, Forest have reached out to a bid which would see Navas move to the City Ground this month.
Talks between Forest and PSG have yet to make progress, however, with Navas’ huge salary package expected to be a significant issue in the negotiations.

Navas came under fire from Napoli over the summer, but wages were once again an issue, with Serie A team director Cristiano Giuntoli saying the goalkeeper earns €15m (€13. £2 million) gross salary per season.
Talks with Napoli ultimately fell through and Navas has spent the last six months on the sidelines, with just two cup games as PSG’s only contribution to the season so far.
As for Forest, they sit 13th in the Premier League table but just four points clear of the relegation zone and with the second worst goal difference in the division, so Henderson’s absence has set alarm bells ringing.
Behind Henderson in Forest’s current pecking order are 36-year-old Wayne Hennessey and 28-year-old Jordan Smith.
