Newcastle United are among several Premier League clubs showing interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, should he be available for transfer this summer, 90 minutes he understands.
The 25-year-old is highly regarded at the Emirates Stadium but has seen his starting opportunities limited by the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City last summer.
Tierney has started just four Premier League games this season and has spent most of the season on the bench.
The sources said 90 minutes that Tierney has never questioned his role within the Arsenal squad, but his lack of minutes has attracted the attention of a number of other clubs.
90 minutes he understands that Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta would like to keep Tierney north of London for an extended period, but the Spaniard acknowledges the lack of regular first-team football could become a problem for the 35-capped Scotland international.
Newcastle United they are one of several Premier League sides to show interest in Tierney, as they weigh their options ahead of a potentially challenging summer transfer window. Left-back is an area they are thought to be eyeing, with Tierney joining Nottingham Forest loan Renan Lodi on the list of potential targets.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is a confirmed admirer of Tierney, having previously worked with him at Celtic, while Aston Villa, West Ham and Leeds are also believed to be keeping an eye on his situation.
There is also interest in promotion-chasing Burnley’s Tierney, who seems ready to return to the top flight the first time he asks.
Tierney joined Arsenal in August 2019 for a fee of £25m and has quickly established himself as a fan favourite. But a series of injury problems prevented him from holding down a regular first-team place, allowing Zinchenko to usurp him in the left-back pecking order.
