Inter Milan central defender Skriniar’s agent has confessed that at the moment there are “no chances” that the Slovakian international will sign a new contract with the Nerazzurri.

Skriniar is in the final six months of his San Siro contract and has long been eyed as a potential deal in 2023, with sources confirming 90 minutes that Paris Saint-Germain is increasingly confident to land the defender on a free transfer.

However, the Premier League’s elite, including Newcastle, have spoken to Skriniar’s representatives and the expectation is that the 27-year-old will receive a number of contract offers in the coming weeks.

PSG are optimistic they can persuade Skriniar to join, having almost come close to luring him to the Parc des Princes last summer when Inter they were looking to sell, and agent Roberto Sistici has now admitted he is talking to the French side and “clubs outside Italy”.

“The truth is that the decision to put Milan Skriniar on the market was taken by Inter during the summer, not by the player. Telenorth.

It was a decision by the club that led to the negotiation between Inter and PSG, of which we have obviously been informed. At one point the negotiation broke down and the player accepted without problems, respecting his contract as a true professional.

“In the autumn we answered all the requests made by the company and, after a series of preliminary meetings, we presented our economic request. After that, in November 2022, Inter presented their proposal. About a month later, before Christmas, I informed Inter of our decision not to accept that offer.

I confirmed that decision in January, before the Super Cup, when I also communicated to managers Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio that we thought we were free to listen to offers from other clubs.

“It wasn’t even necessary for us to inform them, but both the player and I felt it was the right way to proceed, with professionalism and transparency. I repeat, we have never missed any appointment with Inter.”

Asked if Skriniar can still sign an extension with Inter, Sistici offered a damning assessment of the situation.

“At the moment no, it’s not possible – he said – Anyone who knows Milan will realize their professionalism and fairness, they will always honor the shirt of the club they are registered with, especially a club that has given them so much. .”

Ahead of Monday’s meeting with Empoli, in which Skriniar was sent off in the first 45 minutes, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi admitted Inter would handle the situation “one way or another”.

“I’m perfectly relaxed, just see how he trains and how he plays – Inzaghi said – I see him very concentrated, he still has the Inter shirt on his back and also the captain’s armband.

The club is sorting this out one way or another. What matters to me is what happens on the pitch.”
