Mfe-Mediafordolarpe on the move on shareholdings abroad. The television group, the former Mediaset, announced that it has exceeded 25% of the voting rights in the German group Prosiebensat1 and a board of directors is now underway to evaluate the strategies for the subsidiary Mediaset Espana. Mfe announced that it has exceeded the 25% threshold of voting rights of Prosiebensat.1 Media through purchases on the stock market in view of the shareholders’ meeting, which will be held on May 5 to renew a part of the members of the supervisory board. Earlier this month, the company had asked the German Antitrust, the Bundeskartellamt, for authorization to exceed the 25% stake in the German group, and now it could reach 29.9%, the limit of the takeover bid.

Mfe looks to Prosiebensat1 as an ally in its project to consolidate the European generalist TV market, with the aim also of countering the expansion of giants such as Netflix and Amazon. And it aims to count on the next shareholders’ meeting, both in terms of management and strategies.

Meanwhile, a board of directors of Mfe is underway to evaluate its strategy on the investment in Mediaset Espana, of which it holds 55.7%. According to press leaks, Mfe could proceed to take over the shares of the subsidiary not yet in its possession and then proceed with the delisting.
