The pregnant woman injured in the bombing of the Mariupol hospital and transferred on a stretcher to another medical center died along with her unborn child.
The pregnant woman who was seriously injured during the bombing of the Mariupol children’s hospital did not make it: transported in critical condition to a health facility, she died together with the child she was carrying and who was never born.
Pregnant woman died in Mariupol
The news was disclosed by the Ukrainian national news agency Ukrinform and by Voice of America journalist Asya Dolina. These are her words: “The first pregnant girl seen in the video / photo report from the scene of the attack on the Mariupol children’s hospital, the one who was taken away on a stretcher, did not survive“. The one who portrayed her had become one snapshot symbol of the atrocity of the bombing against the building in which three people died, including a 6-year-old child, and 17 other staff and patients were injured.
Pregnant woman who died in Mariupol: confirmation
Dolina herself reported that the death of the woman in question was confirmed also by the photographer Evgeny Maloletka, present during the evacuation of women from the hospital and author of the photos for Associated press. The same also appeared in a video showing her while Ukrainian volunteers and soldiers helped her down the stairs of the hospital bombed on a stretcher to be taken away. In the few seconds of the film, the woman is visible wounded, bleeding and in pain holding her belly in silence and being transferred to an ambulance to be transported to another facility.
