Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz returned to action on Saturday after being out for around nine months with injury.
Wirtz came on in the 61st minute of a friendly against Scottish side Rangers, who defeated the Bundesliga side 3-0.
The player tore a cruciate ligament in his knee in March which also caused him to miss the World Cup as he was considered a candidate for the German squad.
Coach Xabi Alonso celebrated the young star’s return: “He will be a great winter addition for us.”
The Bundesliga is in its global and winter break and won’t resume until mid-January. Leverkusen have moved up to mid-table after a poor start to the season.
