Leeds lodge bid to rival Leicester against loan from Lyon Tete

Leeds United have made a bid to sign Lyon Tete on loan, 90 minutes he understands, but Leicester remain confident they can win the bid for his signature.

90 minutes revealed in December that Tete, currently on loan at Lyon from Shakhtar Donetsk, was expected to leave France in the January transfer window, with Leicester among the teams that held talks recently.

Lyon are set to cut ties with Tete soon, with manager Laurent Blanc keen to move the team in a direction other than a winger who sits second in the club’s goals and assists league table this season.

Leicester remains confident of securing Tete’s signing, having held talks with both Lyon and Shakhtar recently, but Leeds instead they made a late bid to try and bring the 22-year-old to Elland Road.

Leeds are looking to sign Tete on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent signing at the end of the current season.

Sources close to Leicester informed him 90 minutes the Foxes are still optimistic about their chances of landing Tete, however, and plan to move forward regardless of this latest show of interest from Leeds.
