Steckerhoff admitted that he has agreed to accept the mandate of a member of the Saeima, because such an opportunity may come once in a lifetime, so it should be tried.
He actively follows developments in Latvian politics on a daily basis and is ready to learn the duties of a member of the Saeima. “In the Saeima, I would like to work in the commissions responsible for medicine, social issues and sports, as I am also the president of the Ventspils basketball club. I care that professional sports become more attractive and that state and supporter funding can be attracted to it,” stressed Stekerhoff.
Along with the change of the government and the ruling coalition, extensive changes are also expected in the Saeima, where several new deputies will start their work, who will get mandates for the time that their colleagues fulfill the duties of ministers, and also the leadership in most commissions will change.
