A dispute broke out in Mārupe between the municipality and land owners, who are convinced that the county’s plans to build a sidewalk on their land essentially reduce the plot of land they own, “4. studija” reports.
The municipality does not see a problem, explaining that the sidewalk is being built in the red lines of the street and the owners have to accept that there is an encumbrance on their land, and they are not entitled to any compensation for it.
At the moment, construction works are underway, but the sidewalk at the intersection of Ābolu and Priekuļi streets does not really lead anywhere, because there are no sidewalks further on, but in the development plan it is planned to build sidewalks there as well, although it is not known when.
On the other hand, the owners of the adjacent plot have decided to continue fighting because they believe that their plot is simply being taken away to build a sidewalk without any coordination.
