In the past 24 hours, VUGD received 38 calls: 18 – for extinguishing fires, including three – for extinguishing forest fires, 13 – for rescue operations, but seven calls were false.
On Monday, VUGD responded to a call in Rugai Parish of Balvu County, where a one-story residential house with an area of 100 square meters and the roof and attic of a one-story unmanaged building with an area of 70 square meters were burning with an open flame.
Before the arrival of VUGD, four people evacuated from the house. While trying to extinguish the fire, one person was injured in a fire accident.
On Monday, a call was received to Škērstes street in Riga, where a one-story car service building with an area of 120 square meters was on fire. One car was inside the building and burned, while four cars were damaged by the high heat. Before the arrival of the rescuers, one person who was injured in the accident evacuated from the building and was given medical care.
On the other hand, last night the rescuers went to Ilzenes Street in Riga, where timber and finished products were burning in a one-story reinforced concrete production building with an area of 500 square meters. The extinguishing work was hampered by the heavy smog.
