United States Congressman Chip Roy (R-Texas), who is a member of the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives, complained in a floor speech on Thursday about how lawmakers select individuals to head their conference.
His address comes a day after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) was nominated to succeed Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-California) as speaker in the 118th Congress in January.
Roy, however, supported right-wing Congressman Andy Biggs (R-Arizona) in his challenge to McCarthy. It’s not something you elect.”
