Republican United States Senate candidate Herschel Walker of Georgia has made multiple claims that he has Cherokee blood. But according to The Huffington Post, no evidence exists to substantiate Walker’s tales.

“My mom just told me that my mom, grandmother, was full-blood Cherokee. So I’m Native American!” Walker declared on September 28th at an event in Forsythe.

“I’m a super mutt,” he continued. “I don’t know what I am, but this was so funny. This was so funny. I said, ‘Mom, why you never said anything to us?’ She said, ‘Back in my days, a lot of the Native Americans were treated worse than Blacks.’”

There were at least three additional instances of Walker touting his supposed Native American heritage that HuffPost identified in its Wednesday report, although “his September claim went the furthest. He said his mother had just told him his grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee,” the outlet noted.
