Thanks to it, you will be able to control your smartphone by voice thanks to Google Assistant and enjoy a simplified navigation interface to navigate through certain menus, access your latest messages, or explore the content of your music streaming applications or podcasts. Here’s how to activate it.
1. Open Google Maps settings
Start by opening the Google Maps app on your Android smartphone. Then tap on your avatar at the top right and enter the Application Settings.
2. Turn on driving mode
Then scroll through the displayed options and then go to the menu devoted to Navigation Settings. Enter the Settings menu of the Google Assistant and make sure that the Car Mode option is enabled.
3. Enter navigation mode
Then go back to the main page of Google Maps, search for a destination and start navigation by pressing Start.
If everything went according to plan, you should see the microphone of Google Assistant at the bottom left, as well as a menu on the right allowing you to display the applications accessible and usable during navigation with Google Maps.
You can use Google Assistant to launch a piece of music in your favorite streaming app (for example, “Put the Foo Fighters” or ” Play Nine Inch Nails on Deezer), launch or answer a call (the caller’s name will be automatically stated by Google Assistant), or view recent messages.
Google Maps ‘ Car Mode also makes it easier to navigate your apps from a simplified interface. For example, you can quickly view playlists from Deezer, Spotify or YouTube Music, or select a podcast to listen to in your dedicated app.
