According to the German prosecutor’s office, three private apartments of a Russian parliamentarian were seized. The German media does not disclose the personal data of the Russian politician. It is known that the MP is a member of the Russian Duma. The politician should be one of the people on whom the European Union has previously imposed sanctions in connection with the invasion of Ukraine.

The MP and his wife, who lives in Munich, are no longer able to use their funds. The investigation revealed that the Russian couple jointly owned two apartments in Munich. The politician’s wife also owned the third property in the state capital. In addition to the apartments, the proceeds from rents were also seized, ie approx. EUR. The money was deposited into a German bank account.

The seizure of housing from a Russian parliamentarian is the first time that private property has been confiscated in Germany since the start of the war. Previously, the prosecutor’s office only froze the property.

The EU has approved a black list of sanctions against Russian citizens

In early June, EU member states approved the EU sanctions blacklist against Russians. The list is secret and includes over 60 people and a dozen companies. Patriarch Cyril, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, is not there, because Hungary does not agree.

Despite Hungary’s initial reluctance, former gymnast Alina Kabaeva, mother of Vladimir Putin’s children, remained on the list. In addition, more than 40 soldiers from the 64th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade, which is part of the 35th Army and which is responsible for the massacre of civilians in Bucza near Kiev, have been subjected to sanctions: murder, rape and torture. “These atrocities constitute crimes against humanity and war crimes,” wrote the document justifying the sanctions.

Oligarchs and businessmen and their families are also blacklisted. It was also joined by the son of Yegwieni Prigozhin, a close collaborator of Putin, who finances the mercenaries of the Wagner group. The EU also imposed sanctions on the family of the Kremlin spokesperson, daughter, son and wife of Dmitry Peskov. Propagandists from the pro-Kremlin agency Ria Novosti have also been blacklisted.
