From today, Wednesday 20 April, in Spain there is no longer the obligation to wear a mask in closed places, with the exception of public transport, hospitals, health centers and residences for the elderly.

But despite the end of the obligation, Wednesday morning in several cities of Spain they saw each other many people who still wore masks indoors. According to a poll made by the 40dB agency, about two out of three Spaniards will continue to take them with them to shops, sports centers, cinemas and restaurants if there is a need to wear them.

Furthermore, according to the legislation of the Ministry of Health, individual companies will be able to determine whether their employees will have to wear them or not in the workplace, as well as shops and large-scale distribution chains will be able to indicate to customers whether to keep them or not.

The Spanish government’s decision is similar to those already taken in other countries, both in Europe and beyond, and was announced by the Ministry of Health due to the improvement in the situation of coronavirus infections, mainly due to the effective vaccination campaign . In Italy, the decree currently in force provides that the obligation to wear a mask (both indoors and in some outdoor places, for example in stadiums) ceases from next May 1st: in these days, however, the government is considering whether to maintain the ‘obligation or recommend its use in some cases, in particular on means of transport.
