COPENHAGEN (RockedBuzz via Reuters) – Equinor has made an oil and gas discovery near the Troll field in the North Sea, believed to contain between 24 million and 84 million barrels of oil equivalent, the company said on Tuesday.
The discovery, which contains slightly more oil than gas, is commercially attractive, in part because it can use existing infrastructure connected to the company’s Troll B floating processing and accommodation platform, Equinor said.
However, an estimation well is needed to more accurately estimate find size and recoverable volumes, he added.
Called Heisenberg, the find is Equinor’s eighth discovery in the Troll camp area since 2019.
Equinor holds a 51% stake in the license while DNO holds 49%, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
