Acting Minister of Defense of Denmark Troel Lund Poulsen said that he hopes to deliver “Leopard 1” tanks to Ukraine in the spring.
Poulsen visited a company in Germany where tanks are being prepared for delivery to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “I went there to make sure that the work on preparing the Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine is progressing and we can send them as soon as possible,” said Poulsen. “I am proud that with this large and important donation, Denmark is supporting Ukraine’s fight for its freedom in cooperation with other countries. We still hope to be able to deliver the first tanks this spring.”
The Danish Ministry of Defense has set a goal to supply two battalions with tanks as soon as possible, which means the delivery of approximately 80 tanks. The first of them will be used for training Ukrainian crews.
At the beginning of February, the Danish government decided to cooperate with Germany and the Netherlands on the transfer of 100 “Leopard 1” tanks to Ukraine.
