The incident took place in the center of Częstochowa on Wednesday 7 July around 4:00 at Aleja Wolności. The man crossed the street and lay down on the pedestrian crossing. One of the oncoming cars passed him, but another hit him and he walked away from the scene.

Częstochowa police officers found a recording that presents the whole situation. The man lies down on the dogs and is passed by the driver of a white pickup truck. After a while, the delivery truck driver approaches and runs into a lying man.
Due to his injuries, the victim died instantly. According to police findings, the driver of the other car did not observe the road closely and therefore did not exercise due caution. After the accident, the driver walked away from the scene and did not help the victim. When the driver was stopped, it was discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol: he had 0.32 per thousand in his body.
On Friday, the driver was referred to the prosecutor’s office and charged with causing a fatal accident and escaping from the crash site. He faces 12 years of imprisonment and is currently under police surveillance.
