On Wednesday until 4 pm, the highest air temperature in the country was +27.6 degrees in Dobele, according to the data of the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology (LVĜMC). The previous highest air temperature recorded in Latvia on September 13 was +25.6 degrees in 1955 in Daugavpils.
By four in the afternoon, the record of September 13 was broken at 19 observation stations, and in Dobele, Gulbene and Jēkabpils, the heat record of the second decade of the month was also set.
The +27 degree mark was exceeded not only in Dobele, but also in Bauska and Jelgava observation stations.

It has already been reported that on Thursday afternoon the air temperature in Latvia will be even ten degrees lower than the day before, forecasters predict.
From 19:00 on Wednesday evening to 5:00 on Thursday morning, the orange level warning for thunderstorms announced by LVĜMC will be valid in the western part of the country, which will bring strong wind gusts up to 20-24 meters per second, very heavy rains and possibly large hail.

A yellow warning for high winds due to the cyclone has also been announced on the coast – northerly, north-westerly winds are expected to increase in gusts up to 20-24 meters per second.
