The German Tagesschau.de wrote on saturday
an EC spokesperson specifically denied the media report, calling it “unfounded speculation”.
According to The Sun, however, he may be a candidate for the position Ben Wallace British Secretary of Defense Kaja Kallas the Estonian Prime Minister and the half-Ukrainian Canadian finance minister, Chrystia Freeland.
The members of the defense alliance, which has 30 member states, decide on the person of the secretary general behind closed doors, by consensus.
The post of secretary general is typically held by a European politician, while the military head of the organization is given by the United States.
