It’s been a tumultuous start to the 2022/23 season for Chelsea with life under Todd Boehly proving to be as chaotic as many had foreshadowed.
The Blues are aiming to build long-term after replacing Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter in September. However, after a successful honeymoon period, Potter found it difficult in his new post.
Injuries have certainly taken their toll and Potter will hope the likes of Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana return in the new year. The Blues have not won in five before the break and currently sit eighth in the Premier League table.
Here’s who they’ll face once domestic football returns after Christmas.
Chelsea vs AFC Bournemouth (27/12/22)
The Blues have a nice enough date on their return as they host Bournemouth two days after Christmas. While Gary O’Neil has overseen clear improvement on the south coast, this is a contest Chelsea simply need to win, even if some of their World Cup stars are absent.
Nottingham Forest – Chelsea (01/01/23)
Nottingham Forest also improved before the break but are still in the relegation zone. Steve Cooper’s side have already beaten Liverpool at the City Ground this season and will be looking to secure another big scalp on New Year’s Day.
Chelsea-Man City (05/01/23)
Chelsea face Manchester City twice in early January in both the Premier League and FA Cup. Citizens aim to dent Arsenal’s five-point lead at the top of the table, while Potter will be busy trying to slow down Erling Haaland .
Fulham-Chelsea (12/01/23)
Fulham were excellent before the break and this match won’t be the comfortable stroll it typically is for the Blues.
The Cottagers are superbly coached and will be confident of securing their first win in this game since 2006.
