Bochum recovered from bottom place outside the Bundesliga danger zone for at least 24 hours with a 2-0 win at Cologne on Friday.

Kevin Stöger converted a penalty in the 9th minute and Erhan Masovic scored into the top left corner in the 76th minute as Bochum won in Cologne for the first time since 2004 and only the second time overall.

Bochum ended a run of four defeats and with the win they moved from 18th to 14th place, two points clear of Hertha Berlin and three clear of VfB Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Schalke.

Cologne are five points clear of 12th-placed Bochum after a fourth game without a win.

The other fixtures on Matchday 24 are on Saturday and Sunday, with Schalke hosting second-placed Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby and leaders Bayern Munich taking on Augsburg, who gave them one of their two league defeats in the ‘reverse encounter.
