Bayer Leverkusen react to Man Utd’s interest in Jeremie Frimpong

Bayer Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes admitted he was not shocked to see right-back Jeremie Frimpong linked to Manchester United.

90 minutes understands United are ready to part ways with Aaron Wan-Bissaka in January, but would like to replace it with further competition for Diogo Dalot, with Frimpong one of many names on the shortlist.

Denzel Dumfries from Inter, Josip Juranovic from Celtic and Malo Gusto from Lyon, among others, are also being studied.

Specifically asked about UnitedFor Frimpong’s sake, Rolfes insisted he was not worried about losing the 22-year-old former Manchester City youngster.

“We are very relaxed with Jeremy. It would be fatal if he didn’t draw the attention of big clubs to himself with these performances” Rolfes said Sky Germany.

“It is very evident with his way of playing and he is a hugely important player for us. I told him that he will still have his playing time with him quality him within the tournament.

“He can decide a game with one play because he is incredibly fast and good at dribbling. We will be happy when he comes back [after the World Cup] with us. Jeremy has a long-term contract at Leverkusen, so we are very relaxed.”

Contracted until 2025, Frimpong enjoyed a strong season with Leverkusen, scoring five goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances and attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
