Antonio Conte praised Bryan Gil’s physical improvements after the Spaniard’s impressive display in Tottenham’s win against Aston Villa.
The 21-year-old bagged an assist into emphatic Tottenham 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park, slotting a clever pass into Harry Kane’s path in the second half, and generally impressed.
Speaking to the press following the win, Conte was full of praise for Gil and the improvements he has made to his game so far this season but insisted there was still room for improvement.
“You know about Bryan Gil, we’re talking about a player born to play football. He understands football quickly,” said the Spurs boss.
“He’s so smart, so smart to understand the situation. Then you know this championship is difficult, because you have to be of good quality and be fast and have good stamina and he has these kind of qualities. But at the same time you have to be strong physically, I think Gil is improving a lot in this respect compared to last season.
“He needs to become stronger physically. I compared him to Bernardo Silva at Manchester City because in my opinion they are very, very similar. He needs to continue to work really hard on his physical appearance because I repeat we are talking about a high quality player.”
