Milan are confident that Olivier Giroud will reject the possibility of leaving the club by signing a new contract, 90 minutes he understands.
The French international has been a key player for Milan this season, starting ten times in Serie A and scoring five goals and three assists, to go along with four goals in the Champions League.
With just six months remaining on his current contract, Giroud has been touted as a possible option for Manchester United And 90 minutes understands that intermediaries have contacted the forward’s representatives about a possible transfer to Old Trafford.
However, sources confirmed Giroud is very happy in Milan and is set to negotiate a new contract with the Rossoneri, who are keen to keep the 36-year-old around.
Giroud should be offered a two-year contract and the belief around San Siro is that an extension will soon be agreed.
United are looking for a new striker in January and 90 minutes understand that they are watching Ajax’s Mohammed Kuduswhich is already well known to coach Erik ten Hag and impressed with Ghana at the World Cup.
As for Milan, contracts are at the top of the to-do list this month. Together with Giroud, club officials are also working to secure the future of Portuguese striker Rafael Leao, whose contract still has 18 months left.
Chelsea they are eager to land Leao in 2023, but Milan is understood increasingly optimistic about their chances of keeping the 23-year-old.
