The cruise ship “Ocean Explorer”, which ran aground in a remote Greenland fjord three days ago, was lifted from the shore on Thursday, the Danish navy and the ship’s owners announced.

“The ship “Ocean Explorer” has been raised from the ground,” said the Danish Navy’s Joint Arctic Command in Greenland.

The ship owner “SunStone” confirmed that the Greenland fisheries research vessel helped in freeing the ship from its faulty condition.

“None of the people on board were injured, the environment was not contaminated and the hull was not damaged,” the statement said.

The ship, carrying 206 passengers and crew, ran aground on Monday in Alpefjord in the Northeast Greenland National Park.

The ship had run aground on sand and mud, not rocks. During the tides, several unsuccessful attempts were made to raise the ship from the ground, the navy reported on Wednesday.

Most of the tourists are from Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand, South Korea and the USA.
