Germany is preparing to introduce a single-price monthly ticket for public transport across the country from May 1, costing €49.
It is expected that the tickets could go on sale as early as Monday.
Evelina Palla, a representative of the German railway operator “Deutsche Bahn”, says that these tickets will finally put an end to the different tariff structures in local public transport.
This idea was given final approval on Friday by the Bundesrat, the upper house of the German parliament.
The new ticket will give passengers the opportunity to use regional trains and local public transport throughout the country without restrictions.
