Konstantin Zatulin, deputy head of the Russian State Duma’s Union of Independent States (CIS) committee, may lose his position and be expelled from the ruling United Russia party over his statement that Russia has not achieved any of the goals of its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

On June 1, at the forum “What kind of Ukraine do we need?” Zatulin said that all the goals that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had set before his full-scale invasion of Ukraine at the end of February last year had failed.

“What were our officially announced goals when we started the special military operation? You all remember – denazification, demilitarization, neutrality of Ukraine and protection of the people’s republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. (..) In which of these points have we achieved results for today? None,” announced Zatulin.

The “United Russia” party has already started consultations on Zatulin’s expulsion from the party in connection with his statements.

Zatulins informed that no one from the party has spoken about this issue yet.

On his “Telegram” channel, he also emphasized that his words were taken out of context.

“I said that the objectives of the military operation have not been achieved to date. I said that in order to add afterwards that everything possible should be done to achieve these goals,” Zatulins said.
