The Russian Ministry of Defense has released a video showing the destruction of Leopard tanks supplied by Germany to Ukraine, which Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu showed off on Tuesday. This video, however, most likely shows combine harvesters and tractors, not tanks.
Shoigu announced on Tuesday that within three days, Russian forces, repelling the Ukrainian attack, had destroyed 52 Ukrainian tanks, including eight German-supplied Leopard tanks and three French-supplied AMX-10 light tanks.
Shoigu did not provide any evidence for these statements.
Later, the Ministry of Defense released a video of dubious quality, allegedly showing the destruction of the Leopards.
The fact that tanks are visible in the video was questioned even by pro-Russian “war correspondents”.
“Telegram” channel “Vojennij osvedomitelj” announced after analyzing the silhouettes of the equipment seen in the video that
the video shows not tanks, but John Deere 9000 and 700 series combines, as well as the John Deere 4830 tractor.
Pro-Russian “Telegram” channel “Ribarj” also came to a similar conclusion.
Yevgeniy Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian mercenary group “Vagner”, who has openly conflicted with the Ministry of Defense on several occasions, commented on the video with the “destruction of tanks”.
“The Ministry of Defense has published a video of an impressive work. This footage shows Leopard tanks performing a strange tactical maneuver while driving towards each other. These tanks are disguised as agricultural machinery,” Prigozhin quips.
